The inspection teams of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry have issued violations to nine stores in the Shuwaikh area following an inspection tour of date markets, coffee and tea mills, and food stores. The cases have been referred to the Commercial Prosecution for further action.
The inspections uncovered multiple violations, including discrepancies between the actual weight of packaged products and the labeled weight, failure to display price tags on certain food products, and the absence of country-of-origin labels. Inspectors also checked expiration dates to ensure the safety of food products.
This campaign is part of the Ministry’s efforts to regulate the market ahead of the Holy Month of Ramadan. The Pricing Authority has also secured pledges from stores not to raise prices before or during Ramadan, reinforcing measures to protect consumers.
