Around 40 plus areas across the country witnessed power outage today due to the peak load and high temperature.
Meanwhile, the sources in the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy attributed the reasons for the power outage to the failure of a power generation unit in the Al-Zour South Station with a capacity of 300 megawatts.
Sources said that the energy imported from the Gulf network, which is 400 megawatts, was not enough to cover the country’s electricity needs. As the temperature soars to new high, the power index load reaches its peak.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Interior patrols managed the traffic intersections at various places where the signal was not functioning due to power outage.
Ministry called on all road users to be cautious and follow the instructions of security personnel in order to preserve everyone’s safety.
