PCR certified, "Shlonk Application", adherence to instructions; Airport Committee discuss reopening procedures

The Supreme Committee for restarting of commercial flights at Kuwait International Airport today discussed the details of health procedures and requirements that must be followed when the gradual restart of commercial flights at the airport begins from next month.

Several requirements for commercial restart were approved in today's meeting, which includes the use of the "Kuwait - Traveler" application to facilitate travel procedures and issue all work procedures for all government agencies and airlines.

All necessary procedures and equipment have been completed to implement the health and preventive requirements including sterilization systems, glass barriers, thermal cameras and floor stickers.

The plan consists of three main phases. The first phase starts from August 1 and will last six months with an operating rate of no more than 30 percent and the expected number of passengers not to exceed 10 thousand passengers per day and a maximum expected for flights 100 flights per day. The second stage starts from February 1, 2021 and lasts six months with an operating rate of no more than 60 percent and the expected number of passengers not to exceed 20 thousand passengers per day and the expected maximum number of flights is 200 flights per day. The third stage will start from August 1, 2021, with a 100 percent operating rate, the expected number of passengers is more than 30,000 passengers per day, and the expected maximum number of flights is 300 flights per day.

Passengers arriving at Kuwait International Airport are required to obtain a PCR certified, proving he is Covid negative. He also must register on "Shlonk Application" before boarding the plane and sign a commitment to adhere to the Ministry of Health's instructions, whether in the home or Institutional quarantine.

One of the requirements is to measure the temperature of all passengers before boarding the plane and to comply with the health requirements such as wearing masks and gloves, the use of sterilizers and adherence to physical distance.

Departing passengers are to obtain a certificate issued by health centres inside Kuwait International Airport and approved by the Ministry of Health to prove that he is Covid negative, according to the requirements of each country.

Passengers coming to Kuwait. Are they required to obtan the PCR Test before arrival to Kuwait. I will be coming from Macedonia, lay over in Istanbul. I will be in Kuwait for 1 week when I travel. My resident address is in Mahobula. I will be returning to take care of my apartment and to visit my wife''s grave. Please send all information I will need to travel. Good news and maybe life comes back to normal by God''s Grace. But no details given forthwith of how or who will be made to do quarantine, and where will new arrivals be made to do it? What is this institutional quarantine? 50 people in one room in beds like a big dormitory?
