Director General of the Public Authority for Manpower PAM, Ahmed Al-Mousa, was suspended from work by the Minister of Commerce and Industry as part of the investigation against him for issuing a decision to suspend work permits for expatriates aged 60 years and above without university degree. Local Arabic newspapers reported that he was suspended at the request of the investigation committee.
Last year PAM Director General issued a decision to stop renewal of work permits for expatriates above 60 years without university degree. However last week, the Fatwa and Legislation committee said that the decision is illegal and subsequently the decision was cancelled. However a number of expatriates were forced to leave Kuwait earlier as they were unable to renew their work permit.
