PACI launches imaging project through the “Kuwait Finder” application

The Public Authority for Civil Information (PACI) launched the “High Resolution Imaging” project through the use of drones, which provides comprehensive aerial images covering all parts of the country and serving the authority’s projects and other government agencies.

In a press statement, the Director-General of PACI Musaed Al-Asousi stressed the importance of this project, which is an alternative to satellite images, and will cost KD 120,000 annually (about USD 400,000).

He explained that it is provided through the “Kuwait Finder” application, which is used by more than 2.2 million people.

In addition, it serves as a gateway to spatial information that connects more than 170 government agencies and the private sector.

The project is also one of the complementary projects to the “Kuwait Finder” application, which was launched in 2013 and became the only application in the region that provides the service of inferring addresses and buildings accurately through the automated number and address, while providing a peripheral view of roads and buildings.

The project complements the ground imaging of all Kuwait roads from border to border, which was completed without any cost and provided through the Kuwait Finder application in 2016 and 2022.

The project is being accomplished by the authority’s national cadres after they received field training for aerial photography, data processing and uploading to the authority’s systems.

Through this project, the authority will save public money for government agencies, as many of them contract annually with companies that provide them with satellite images, which constitutes a burden on the state budget.

Al-Asousi revealed that 15 areas were filmed in the pilot launch of the project, indicating that the urban area is expected to be filmed within six months, after which the border and desert areas will be filmed.

He expressed his appreciation to the authority’s competencies and cadres in the completion of such national projects.
