More than 1,600 requests for consumer delivery licenses were submitted over the past two days, following the Ministry of Interior’s decision to allow companies to apply for licenses to offer delivery and logistics services, local daily Al Jarida reported. Around 800 requests were made on the first day.
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry began accepting applications to establish delivery companies. This activity had previously been suspended due to a directive from the Ministry of Interior, which requested a temporary halt until a regulatory framework was put in place.
The issuance of licenses has now resumed, following the inclusion of the activity in the Ministry of Commerce's automated system and final approval for its regulation.
