Being a parent is a joy; a privilege and often, a challenge too. Our emotions vary, each day and also, several times in a day. Do any of these thoughts and worries trouble you in your journey as a parent?
As for instance, our child:
-Does not talk much---neither with us and nor in the presence of guests
-Is inactive and dull
-Remains glued to the cellphone
-Is stubborn and does not pay heed to what we keep saying
-Gets angry too fast and too much
-Seems indifferent most of the times to us
-Retorts
-Asks for too many things
-Lacks concentration
-Barely eats healthy food
-Is confused about what he or she wants to do in life ahead
We care for our kids, and hence the concerns are too many. The concerns need to be addressed somehow. We need to think as to where do we err, and if we do not, then what is a good way forward.
There are no guiding manuals; and nor any proven formulae, as far as raising kids is concerned. We love them, and with our limited set of views, experiences, perceptions and a ‘To-Do’ list handed by society, we begin the journey.
But there are some serious concerns taking over our joys of parenting. There are some grey clouds hovering, threatening to cloud our vision.
We need to think; to introspect; to talk and search for answers. The answers need not be perfect. It is just that we need to search for a reasonable way forward and this search has to be an earnest one.
Join Dr Navniit Gandhi—an academic, trainer/counsellor and a writer/author, in a small attempt to trigger the thinking; the talking and the search for balance in parenting on 24th November from 2:00 pm onwards at Aspire Indian International(AIIS). Let us ask questions and search for some reasonable answers...
We need to talk, before even the little concerns become gigantic challenges.
