Number of expats in Kuwait reduced to 2.65 million from 3.3

As the repercussions of the Corona crisis grip Kuwait's job market, the number of expatriates in the country had fallen down to a new level. According to Al-Rai Arabic newspaper, the number of expats holding valid residence is around 2.65 million whereas before the Corona crisis there were 3.3 million.

The daily added that the total number of expats who have valid residence permits and are outside Kuwait are about 365,000 and those whose residence have expired are 147,000.

The report stated that the number of residence violators were about 132,000. It is expected that 40,000 expats will take advantage of a deadline granted by the Ministry of Interior to legalize their status from 1st Dec to 31st Dec.

I renewed my wife’s residency and new civil id is ready in machine. However as she is in India ( has got the new civil id in her mobile too ) now, Is it mandatory or as per rules, to get the old civil id ( though courier/ any other person who is coming) and get the new civil id - to avoid fines etc. ? Please guide. Thanks.
