No more Driving license for Nurses!

The interior ministry issued a new decision prohibiting the issuance of driving license to expat students and nurses.

This decision came within several steps of the General Traffic Department to reduce traffic congestion in the roads, local Arabic media reported.

According to the new decision, students or nurses who previously obtained driving licenses earlier can only renew them provided valid documents are submitted. For expat students, a registration certificate from the university or the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training is required to renew the license while for a nurse, an employers certificate is required.

They are so kind. Allowing Nurses & expat students to drive with no more driving license.

Driving is not a basic human right, neither is polluting the environment (maybe in Pakistan).
You can cry in your own country if it works; here use wasta & follow the rules ;)
In case you are new or haven''t already figured out, Kuwait wants expats out & they will use any and every means necessary to make life difficult for expats and easy for themselves. There is nothing you can do about it - so suck it up and stay as long as you wish or leave.

Driving is a basic human right & the traffic department playing with the rules like this is ridiculous!

I don''t understand how hard it is to address this issue in a sensible manner!

All expats come from countries with way more cars & way more congestion & still manage to get through by improving the infrastructure which is so easily possible here...

Reading news like this is frustrating & simply a means of restricting working expats from moving freely in this country!

Most of the expat nurses are using private buses/coasters. And by prohibiting driving license to expat nurses will the traffic congestion be reduced...can''t understand the philosophy behind this decision. The traffic dept. needs to promote public transport/school buses for school-going children because the traffic in Kuwait often occur when schools/colleges open and every parent uses his own vehicle to drop/pick-up the child to school. There should be a solution for this, either the Ministry of Education make amendments to the school timings or the Traffic Dept. /MoI promotes or gives orientation to the parents for using public transport/school buses which will help in reducing the traffic up to some extend.
