When it comes to Indian food in Kuwait, no doubt ‘Mughal Mahal’ set an example among the residents in Kuwait. What about an exotic twist to its taste? This is what we experienced at the newly opened Mughal Mahal Exotica at Levels Mall, Mahboulla.
Its almost months, we wanted to try this latest outlet of famous Mughal Mahal restaurant. They opened the Mughal Mahal Exotica last November. When we visited this place for the first time, we realized that why they named it ‘Exotica’! The whole ambience is really exotic and was totally different from the usual Indian restaurant. There is no Mughal pictures neither the typical Indian artifacts. The ambience is cozy with modern design.
The ambiance is delightful and the decor is elegant. The beautiful chandeliers inside high roof restaurant looks like diamonds falling from the sky. The restaurant has a beautiful outdoor dining surrounded by greenery and small fountains. Inside its well set with tables and chairs in the center and at the sides is the sofas. They have few family cabins also in the upper level. You also get a wide view of the ground level restaurant from the upper level through the hanging chandeliers. The whole restaurant looks modern and stylish.
As usual, the mark of Mughal Mahal, the maharaja welcomes you while you are entering the restaurant. Since the weather was pleasant, we preferred to sit outside. I was told that they are going to install a new technology to create an artificial clouds and cooling mechanics to make the ambience cool and pleasant in the hot season. The new technology, which is currently not available in any other restaurant in Kuwait will be ready before Ramadan, the restaurant manager told.
We started our culinary journey with fresh fruit juices. They served us the usual complementary starter the papad with chutney and pickle. Their a la carte menu is very attractive with variety of dishes both in veg and non-veg. The Vegetarians will surely enjoy as this restaurant offers variety of vegetarian dishes. The staff were very friendly and suggested us their specialties.
Compared to any other Indian restaurant we tried in Kuwait, all items in their menu is with a special twist! For starters we had Mumtaz Stuffed Chicken Rolls, one of the special dish in their menu. It was a combination of Chicken and Paneer or I would say a Paneer filled Chicken! It’s a mouthwatering dish. Enjoyed each byte as it was something unique and never eaten before.
They have a good collection of steak, which are quite famous among the Kuwaitis, on their menu and all with a special twist! They introduced Steak in a Middle Eastern Style. They have used a special combination of sauces for the Steak. They have chicken and Beef Steaks. They even have a mixed steak which is a combination of Chicken, Beef and Prawns. We had the Chicken Steak. The chicken steak we tried came with a special Sauce and Garlic Rice. Chicken with the Sause was great. It was a little sweet. We just loved it. A must try dish if coming to Mughal Mahal - Exotica.
Other specialty of their cuisine is the Tawa Sizzlers. Sizzlers are served in Tawas with two Nans. They have both veg and non veg Sizzlers. We had the Paneer Tomato Hara Pyasa, which is unique in its taste.
One of the interesting part of their menu is the rice item. Other than the usual ‘Mughal Mahal Biryani’, this restaurant had around 16 types of rice dishes. Be it Garlic Rice, Jeera Cumin Pulao, Lemon Rice, Curry Flavored Rice, Egg Pulao, Matar Pulao, Olive Pulao, Biriyanis, all will come to you as a real surprise.
Specialty in their Sea Food Curry is their Kesari Prawn Curry where they use Spanish saffron. It gives a great aroma of saffron in the curry.
The restaurants outdoor dining accommodates around 24 dinners. Inside they have around 100 seating capacity with 7 cabins with 4 - 6 seating capacity on the top floor. They even take Group bookings. For a maximum of 40 people, you can book the whole ground level area and enjoy in your own privacy! People do organize Birthday Parties, Meetings etc at Mughal Mahal Exotica and they arrange separate set menus for these kind of arrangements.
Mugahl Mahal Exotica is located at Levels Mall , Block No.9, Main Costal Road 209 in Mahboula and is open from 11:00 AM - 11:00 PM and on weekends it from 11:00 AM - 12:00 AM. There is ample parking place and also they provide valet parking. So no need to worry about getting parking place at any time of the day. They provide Take away, Home Deliveries and Outside Catering. The average price for a family of 4 will come around 10 to 12 KD. The restaurant is cozy and Leisure Dining with great Value for Money.
