The Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) is currently working on a plan to enable expatriate workers under companies, whose files are closed, to transfer their residency to other companies.
According to report, PAM takes this decision considering the humanitarian circumstances of the workers. The condition is that their files must be “cleared” of workers by July this year.
It also suggested that the transfer process will be subject to specific regulations and conditions. Notably, the transfer will only be permitted to valid files with other companies. Workers will be allowed to transfer from one file to another if more than 12 months have passed since their work permit was issued with the closed/suspended company.
For workers employed by companies holding licenses for small and medium enterprises, it is emphasized that a minimum of 3 years must elapse from the issuance of the work permit as a requirement for transferring their employment.
