The Ministry of Interior announced Wednesday that officers from the General Department for Drug Control (GDDC) arrested three Asian nationals in possession of a large quantity of imported liquors. Authorities said the suspects had attempted to smuggle 1,120 bottles of liquor into the country through a seaport in a professional and organized manner.
In a press statement, the ministry affirmed that the operation comes as part of its ongoing efforts to combat the smuggling and distribution of narcotics and liquors. It noted that the arrests were made during intensified campaigns launched by the Criminal Security Sector to track down and apprehend violators of the law. The ministry added that the suspects and the seized contraband were referred to the proper authorities for legal action.
It reaffirmed its commitment to continue its intensive security campaigns and take firm measures against anyone who seeks to undermine the security and safety of the nation
