MoE proposed alternate days offline classes for students from September

Education department is proposing a new alternate classroom option for students from the next academic year starting from September. In its meeting held today, education department suggested a new plan, in which students of one school will be divided into two groups. Each group will attend full day offline class on alternate days, Al-Qabas Arabic daily reported.

The proposal will be submitted to the Council of Ministers next week to take a final decision.

Education Minister Dr. Ali Al-Mudhaf today met with high level officials and they discussed various issues faced for the return to school plans. In its earlier meeting, the committee proposed a plan in which students will attend the offline classes as two shifts.

The number of students present in each class room will be limited to 20 students.

School will schedule only the basic subjects and the study of non-essential subjects will be postponed to the second semester. A weekly negative PCR certificate will be made mandatory for all unvaccinated students and teachers.

A final decision on the return to school plan is expected to be made in the council of ministers meeting next week.

First of all, the decision to send the child to school should entirely be the parents'' decision. When adults can''t follow social distancing, mask dropping off below the nose and mouth, keeping classrooms well ventilated, avoiding crowds (playgrounds), cleaning your hands, and coughing into a bent elbow or tissues-is all the above feasible with kids? The viruses can persist on inanimate surfaces for certain periods- again children will unconsciously touch their mouth and nose. After school, sanitizing classrooms-every day (at least a minimum of 30 rooms!). The school bus also needs sanitizing. All these are going to cost. Any day offline school is the best in the current situation. Should we take risks with kids. What if new variants emerge? what if we have a vaccine-resistant virus coming up? firstly, parents should be allowed the choice of offline and online classes, Secondly, if offline classes are so important start with 10th 11th and 12th. exempt classes below. As adults, when have we put to use our LKG to 9th-grade certificates? Health is wealth lets not experiment with kids.

Weekly PCR test for unvaccinated students and teachers will be a costly affair and not practical. Unvaccinated people should be exempted from offline classes, till they are vaccinated.
