Mathematics – The only subject that counts

Mathematics may not teach us how to inhale and exhale, or how to make machines but it gives a reason to hope that every problem has a solution.

Friends, I have heard many saying that they hate Math. I know it’s a tough subject but if you apply your brain, it turns out to be easy.

Let me make it clear that I don’t practice math like Ramanujan’s practice.

First, WHAT IS MATH???

Math, according to this generation is Mental Abuse to Humans. Like the famous quote, “Democracy is for the people, by the people and to the people”, math is against the students, against the students and against the students. Some students even say that Math makes my mind melt more than mild summer. No, it isn’t like that, it is an interesting subject.

Basically, Mathematics is a subject which consists of three C’s. Calculation, concentration, and confusion. Math consists calculation with numbers, for which high concentration is required, otherwise it leads to confusion.

There are mainly four topics in Math: Algebra, Analytical Geometry, Trigonometry, and Calculus. In lower grades, we all learn addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. In future, these will be useful for complicated stuff in Math and Physics.

Now let me introduce you to the different topics in math.

1)Algebra comprises of making of expressions, their addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and solving equations.

2)Analytic Geometry is used to model geometric objects - points, (straight) lines, and circles being the most basic of these. Analytic geometry is a great invention of Descartes and Fermat.

3)Trigonometry is a branch of mathematics that studies relationships between the sides and angles of triangles.

4)Calculus is a branch of mathematics that explores variables and how they change by looking at them in infinitely small pieces.

I know that all my readers who are of my age or below, are surprised. Don’t worry friends, I am here to give you tips on how to study math. At the end you all will realize that I was a Superhero at the battlefield trying to save you all from Math doomsdays.

First tip is as always, practice, practice, and more practice. It means that practice is like a medicine in math.

Secondly, analyze errors. This means that after doing a problem see the mistakes you have done. As you go through the mistakes don’t rectify it in the same question instead repeat the problem.

Thirdly, master the key concepts. Do not try to memorize the processes. It is much better and rewarding to focus on understanding the process and logic that is involved. This will help you understand how you should approach such problems in the future.

Followingly, create a concentrating and distracting free environment. Mathematics is a subject that requires more concentration than any other. A proper study environment and a distraction free area could be the determining factor when solving complicated problems. For that download white music and play it in your mobile. This will reduce distraction.

Finally, apply math to real world problems. It may be very abstract sometimes so looking for a practical application can help change your perspective and assimilate ideas differently. For example, when you go out for shopping with your parents involve yourself in the calculations required between you and shopkeeper which trains your brain to be quick, smart and logical even.

So, friends, I would like to make a point in general. Math is not at all hard if you have patience and implement my given tips.

Concisely, Mathematics is not about equations, expressions, calculation, or algorithms but is all about ‘UNDERSTANDING’.
