Let us connect with our villages; Ambassador tells NRIs in Kuwait

Ambassador Shri Sibi George urged all NRIs in Kuwait to connect with their home villages and home towns back in India and explore how we can contribute to the development of our villages.

As the President of India, in his Republic day speech, mentioned the importance of our home villages in our lives, Ambassador Shri Sibi George urged all NRIs in Kuwait to focus on developing their villages and home towns.

During the Covid pandemic, we saw that Kuwait sent the largest amount of Medical oxygen from Kuwait to India, which helped thousands in our towns and villages.

Here many associations and individuals are already connected with the development of their villages and towns. My plan is to work with them and take it to a bigger scale.

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi had already initiated 'One district One product' concept. The idea is to export at least one product from each district. We have many successful NRIs here who can help get ideas in this, Ambassador said. "Lets’ contribute to promote and support the handicrafts, art and culture in our own villages and towns, let’s support the export of products from our villages, towns and districts. Let our new motto be, ‘Connecting with our Villages’," Ambassador Sibi George said.

He also invited suggestions and ideas from the community in this regard.

During his Republic Day speech, the Ambassador also appreciated the effort of all Embassy officials and staff during the pandemic in facing the challenges and continued to extend smooth consular service and community welfare activities.

Last year was full of challenges. I am so happy and proud of my staff that they were able to face these challenges and continued to extend smooth consular service and community welfare activities. "Almost all of my staff in the Embassy got infected with Covid at some point of time, but they continued the smooth consular service for the whole Indian community here," Ambassador said.

Ambassador also thanked the full support and active participation of many Indian associations and groups, well-wishers, both Indians and Kuwaitis, to meet most of these challenges. He also mentioned the sacrifices made by the doctors, nurses, other medical professionals, lawyers and other professionals for their tremendous support during the pandemic.

India had an excellent year in bilateral relations. The embassy celebrated the 60th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations in a befitting manner. "We were able to take our bilateral relationship with Kuwait to a new level of partnership," Ambassador said.
