Kuwait prime minister warns of covid variants

His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah on Wednesday called for vigilance against emergence of new strains of the novel coronavirus.

During a meeting with the local chief editors, the prime minister affirmed that the pandemic crisis adversly impacted on enterprises. "The crisis is not over yet," he has affirmed.

He has indicated that some 30,000 local entrepreneurs have been facing difficulties due to the pandemic, adding that up to 255 million people worldwide have lost their jobs.

He has confirmed that the authorities tightened precautions at the airport after detecting two cases of the coronavirus variants coming from the UK.

"The health situation is governing the country," he said hoping that Kuwait would emerge from this crisis with vaccination of the largest number possible of people.
