
Kuwait is drafting of a new law on alternative procedures and penalties, such as community service instead of imprisonment for certain misdemeanor crimes, local daily Al- Qabas reported quoting Minister of Justice and Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Mohammad Al-Wasmi.
According to report, aimed to use the convicts for the benefit of society, these alternative penalties will replace the penalty of imprisonment for less than two months for some misdemeanor cases such as traffic violations, violations of the municipality law, and violation of the printing and publishing law.
