Kuwait called on public to limit power consumption during 11 to 5

Kuwait on Wednesday said peak summer demand for power was the culprit behind an outage that blanketed large swathes of the country, in addition to sweltering summer conditions that have seen temperatures rise higher than normal.

It called on the general public to limit consumption during peak hours, which stretch from 11 AM to 5 PM, saying such a measure was necessary to ensure continued supply.

The ministry of electricity and water has taken "pre-emptive steps" including brief interruptions of power in a bid to keep "stability" in the national power grid, it said in a statement.

We must switch off the ACs when away from office or home-switch off lights when we don''t need them , We should ideally set the ACs at 24DegC which is healthful and optimum in energy consumption. Every single drop of water Must be saved-Each drop of water is produced from seawater burning fossil fuel and delivered to every home- it''s not a small thing is the greatest of the service in the world so generously by MEW and Govt of Kuwait. We must show utmost responsibility and respect for this humane gesture. In Delhi, the National Capital of India we have acute water scarcity amid the scorching heat and summer like many other Cities in the world. As responsible people, we must abide by all directives and indeed volunteer actions for a sustainable future.

Kuwait has endless opportunities to generate power either it is solar, wind or diesel. But there is no interest to setup new power plants of any kind.
