In a significant breakthrough, the Farwaniya Governorate Investigation Department has arrested a member of a gang accused of blackmailing members of the Asian community in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh. The arrest came as part of the ongoing efforts by the Criminal Security Sector to combat criminal activities and uphold public safety.
The gang was reportedly targeting Asian vendors operating in informal street markets, demanding money in exchange for not harming or exposing them. Investigations led to the discovery of a video clip that clearly showed members of the gang collecting money from vendors and bystanders in the area, exploiting their vulnerable conditions and unregulated market spaces.
Based on this evidence, the authorities set up a well-planned ambush, successfully arresting one of the gang members — a Bangladeshi national — while he was caught in the act. He was immediately taken into custody. Efforts are currently underway to identify and apprehend the remaining members of the group involved in these extortion activities.
The Ministry of Interior emphasized that it will not tolerate any attempts to threaten the safety or security of the public. The ministry also urged residents to report any similar criminal behavior through official communication channels.
