The Minister of Health, Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadhi, has approved Ministerial Resolution No. 93 of 2025, which sets the prices for 69 new medicines and pharmaceutical preparations in private sector pharmacies. This decision aims to maintain the safety and quality of treatments while making them more affordable for patients. It follows the recommendation of the Drug Pricing Committee and builds on previous efforts to regulate medicine prices and ease the financial burden on the public.
The newly priced medicines include a wide range of treatments for various conditions such as cancer, diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, asthma, thyroid disorders, infections, epilepsy, Alzheimer’s, obesity, and migraine. The decision is part of the ministry’s ongoing plan to monitor the pharmaceutical market and ensure fair pricing without affecting the quality and effectiveness of healthcare.
This move follows earlier approvals, including the pricing of 146 medicines and supplements in March and a 30% price reduction for "terzipatide" injections last week. More than 200 drug classes also saw price adjustments in 2024. The Ministry of Health confirmed its continued commitment to ensuring fair access to medicine, reducing treatment costs, and supporting a strong, sustainable healthcare system in Kuwait.
