In a move to ease seafood prices and boost market stability, the Kuwait Fishermen’s Union announced a new strategy to import fish and sell it at cost price, ensuring affordability for all consumers.
Union head Abdullah Al-Sarheed confirmed that the initiative, in cooperation with the Public Authority for Agriculture Affairs and Fish Resources (PAAAFR), aims to provide a steady supply of both local and imported fish while supporting licensed fishermen.
The plan includes managing fish stalls directly and working closely with authorities to overcome industry challenges. Officials from the Ministry of Agriculture expressed support, promising to review proposals and strengthen marine food security.
“We’re here to serve both the fishermen and the public,” said Al-Sarheed, affirming the Union’s dedication to affordable, diverse, and sustainable seafood options.
