Khiran resort to quarantine suspected coronavirus cases

Wednesday, February 26, 2020

Kuwait announced that the Khiran resort has been allocated to host suspected coronavirus cases who are under quarantine.

The move came in response to the Ministry of Finance's demand on allocating the facility as a quarantine place, the company said in a statement.

"It is part of the precautionary measures and plans set by the state's bodies to counter the spread of the virus," it added. The company apologized to visitors for closing the facility, it noted.

As Kuwait confirmed two more cases of the novel coronavirus, COVID-19, the total number of confirmed infections reaches 11 people. The new two patients are also related to passengers arriving from Iran.

The ministry added that all patients are in stable conditions, and receiving the required medical care in the assigned hospitals, which are prepared to handle similar cases.

The ministry also called on citizens and residents alike to abide by guidelines issued by the ministry to ensure safety and good health for all.

Meanwhile, Kuwait suspended all flights to and from Singapore and Japan, in addition to other countries announced earlier, due to the new coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

All non-Kuwaitis who visited Singapore or Japan over the past two weeks will not be allowed to enter the country, even if they have valid visas, meanwhile Kuwaitis will be put in quarantine at special health facilities. No entry visas will be issued for those coming from these countries.
