KOC Cancels Ahmadi Festival; Medical Association appeal to stop spreading of rumors

The Kuwaiti Medical Association appealed to residents of Kuwait to follow the local recommendations from official health authorities. The president of the society, Dr. Ahmed Al-Enezi stressed the importance of fighting rumors spread on social media. Same time he stressed not to underestimate or reduce follow-up recommendations. He suggested to take necessary precautions, avoid unnecessary travel and gatherings in public places such as markets, as well as being careful on frequent hand-washing and other instructions found in official educational publication.

Kuwait Oil Company KOC today announced that the annual "Ahmadi Festival" to celebrate Kuwait national day is cancelled in the interest of public health.

Kuwait's popular gathering place the Avenues Mall also informed that the mall is halting all the celebration events for the safety of the mall visitors in wake of the recent health circumstances.

NBTC company also informed that the annual Winter Carnival where 1000s of its employees gather to celebrate the national day is postponed due to the current health circumstances.

Meanwhile, Al-Rai Arabic news paper reported that the Council of Ministers is studying a plan to suspend the schools for a week, after the end of the national holidays, from next Sunday on March 1 until Thursday March 5. This development comes within the framework of the precautionary measures to confront the new "Corona" virus, on the recommendation of the Ministry of Health. However an official decision is not yet taken in this regard.

Due to difficulty in supply and increase in demand, the prices of N95 mask has increased in the local market. In coming days it is expected to increase further, local media reported.

The Ministry of Health suspended the leave for all its employees at the present time until further notice, due to developments in the new Corona virus.

Earlier today, the Ministry of Health confirmed three cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Kuwait for those who came back from Iran.

Authorities are appealing to stop spreading rumours.
But they also vehemently deny any virus cases repeatedly and finally confirm 3 cases.
Public festivities are also cancelled.
Perhaps they changed the meaning of rumour to ''truth''. So stop spreading truth?
Ok, jokes apart. Keep yourselves clean. Wash frequently and avoid crowded areas and disgusting people. Be safe.
Jai Hind!!
