Indian student Ishaq Imthiyaz won Silver Medal in the prestigious Emperor of The Mats IV edition Jujutsu tournament, held in Kuwait. Emperor of The Mats is an EBI style submission only Jujutsu tournament - a martial arts form in which a close combat systems is used to defeat or control the opponent. The tournament was held in Kuwait on 5th October 2024 at Fahaheel Sports Club.
Mr Ishaq Imthiyaz, the only Indian participated in the famed tournament is a 7th grade student of India International School (IIS), Mangaf.
This highly challenging martial arts competition is renowned for its strict no-points, submissions-only format. Ishaq demonstrated exceptional skill and determination by defeating formidable opponents from Saudi Arabia in the quarter-finals and Kuwait in the semi-final.
Hailing from Tamil Nadu in India, Mr Ishaq got his inspiration for this rare martial arts from his father Mr Imthiyaz Haja Maideen, who is a Black Belt in Karate and had won several accolades in Karate during his collage years. Mr Imthiyaz is currently working as an IT Manager in a private firm. Mr Ishaq's mother is working as a manager in Starbucks Kuwait. He have two sisters, one is working and the elder sister is a student in IIS Mangaf.
A member of Champions Gym Club in Mahaboula, Mr Ishaq get his professional training from his Iranian coach Mr. Walid Zaman. His professional excellence in this sporting item helped him to represent Champions Gym in several such competitions in the past 2 years.
His victory is a testament to his dedication and the rigorous training he underwent. This achievement not only brings immense pride to his school and family but also to our nation.
