
Indian tennis player Prajnesh Gunneswaran won the ITF Kuwait men’s Open Tennis tournament held in Kuwait on Sunday. Prajnesh beat Khumoyun Sultanov of Uzbekistan 6-2, 7-6(5) in the final of the $25,000 ITF men’s tennis tournament held at the Sheikh Jaber Al-Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah International Tennis Complex at 360 mall.
The tournament was held in the presence of President of Kuwait and Arab Tennis Federations Sheikh Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, with the participation of 41 players from 19 countries. The final match was attended by Kuwait Tennis Federation Secretary General Faleh Al-Otaibi.
The 33-year-old Prajnesh was in a spot of trouble as he faced a set point in the 12th game on his serve, but pulled through to seal victory in the tie-break.
It was the 11th title in the professional circuit for Prajnesh, who was ranked a career-high 75th in 2019.
