Indian Embassy in Kuwait issued an advisory for the Indian nationals who are in Kuwait on Domestic worker visa.
Embassy explain the mandatory requirements for an Indian national to come to Kuwait as domestic worker as per the Domestic Worker Laws of Kuwait (Law No. 68 of 2015), and related Ministerial Decisions and Executive Regulations.
The advisory is as follows:
As per Domestic Worker Laws of Kuwait (Law No. 68 of 2015), and related Ministerial Decisions and Executive Regulations, Domestic Workers (DWs) are entitled to:
- A written Employment Contract (in Arabic and English), is mandatory.
- Wage not less than the minimum wage specified by Ministry of Interior. (As per Government of India regulations, the prescribed Minimum Wages for Indian national DWs in Kuwait is KD 120/- per month.)
- Payment of agreed wage at the end of each month from date of joining without any deduction. (In case of non-payment of agreed wages, KWD 10/- for every month of delay should be paid by Employer).
- Provision of free food, clothing, medical treatment and adequate accommodation.
- Compensation for extra work (In case of non-payment, PAM may investigate and order the Employer to pay double the agreed wage).
- Paid weekly rest and paid annual holiday.
- One month's wage for each year of service as End of Service Benefits.
- DWs cannot be assigned any hazardous work affecting health or offending human dignity.
- Maximum working hours should not be more than 12 hours per day.
- Passport/Civil Id of DWs cannot be retained by Employer, without the consent of DWs.
