Indian Education School Held Prize Distribution Ceremony of Chroma 2019

Indian Education School, Kuwait, held the Prize Distribution Ceremony of Chroma 2019 (the ninth edition of the Ruth Memorial Interschool Art Competition) in the school hall on 27th November 2019.

Ruth Prince Chacko, an incredibly gifted painter and a student of Indian Education School, left for her heavenly abode in the year 2009 leaving a trail of poignant evocation wrapped with beautiful memories in the hearts of her friends, family and relatives. During the little time she lived on the earth, she held everyone spellbound with her finest flair for drawing and painting. Ruth Memorial Art Competition is held annually “in memoriam” of this prodigious painter.

The Interschool Art Competition was organized on Saturday, November 16 in the IES auditorium. 124 gifted painters representing 9 Indian Schools in Kuwait took part in the interschool art competition in 5 categories organized by the Department of Art, IES, under the patronage of Mr. Prince Chacko, and Mrs. Preethi Chacko, the parents of late Ruth Prince Chacko. The topics for the competition were announced by Mr. T. Premkumar, Principal, Indian Education School, amid huge applause. The competition was adjudged by eminent artists, Mr. Abraham Jacob and Mr. Sunil Pookode.

The Prize Distribution Ceremony, organized in the school auditorium on 27th November at 9.30 a.m., was attended by a fairly large audience that consisted of teachers, parents, participants and the students of grade 2 (the classmates of late Ruth’s brother David), and Ria Susan Chacko (grade 9), her sister. Late Ruth’s parents graced the occasion. Mr. Mukundan Pazhanimala, Head of the Department of Arts, welcomed the august gathering. Ms. Meenakshi Nayyar, Vice Principal CCA, IES, felicitated the formidable artists.

The winners of the contest were awarded mementos and cash prize by Mr. Prince Chacko, the sponsor of the contest, Mr. Mahesh Iyer, Principal, Smart Indian School, Ms. Anselma Tessy, Vice Principal, IES Senior Wing, Ms. Jaemi Byju, Vice Principal, IES Middle Wing, Ms. Lalitha Premkumar, Vice Principal, Primary and Kindergarten Wing of IES and Ms. Meenakshi Nayyar, Vice Principal CCA, IES. Mr. Prince Chacko addressed the audience and thanked the school management, the Principal and the Art Department, IES, for conducting the Ruth Memorial Art competition every year utmost devotedly in his beloved daughter’s memory. On behalf of IES, Mr. Prince Chacko was presented a memento as a token of gratitude and appreciation.

Ms. Meenakshi Nayyar, Vice Principal CCA and Ms. Mumtaz Firoz, faculty member, Department of Arts, recited a poem apiece, composed in loving memory of Ruth by Ms. Vineetha Maheshwari, former HoD ,Science and Mathematics, Primary Wing and Ms. Muneera Mammikutty, HoD English, Primary Wing respectively. The programme was wound up with a proposal of vote of thanks by Ms. Lalitha Premkumar.
