The Indian Dentists’ Alliance in Kuwait (IDAK) ( Affiliated to Kuwait Dental Association) Distributes Samsung Tabs To The Needy Children

The Indian Dentists’ Alliance in Kuwait (IDAK),(Affiliated to Kuwait Dental Association) continues its relief and humanitarian aid to the Indian community, who are affected by the pandemic – COVID-19. In addition to its on-going efforts to provide dry rations and food to families facing food insecurities, IDAK decided to donate Samsung Galaxy S4 Tablets to selected children belonging to low-income families.

In the backdrop of the ongoing pandemic, schools have started the academic year with online classes. At a time when many families have lost their livelihood, affording a Tablet for their child, may not be a feasible option for many. IDAK contacted several school managements to help them identify the most eligible students in the age groups of 8-12 years. From the list obtained, IDAK contacted the families and shortlisted the 10 most eligible students. Selected students and their families were invited to Salmiya Park on the 23rd of October at 10.00AM and IDAK office bearers handed over the Tablets. IDAK’s president, Dr. Rajesh Alexander, who spearheaded this initiative said, “Amid this pandemic, many low-income families, especially those in daily wage or contract work, lost their jobs thus worsening an already difficult financial situation. Many families could not afford to buy Tablets, so that their child could take online classes. Due to the generosity of our members, IDAK managed to purchase 10 Samsung Galaxy S4 Tablets and distribute it to selected families.”

Mr, Rajagopal, father of one of the recipients of the Tablet, said, “I recently lost my job and I am struggling to make ends meet. My son was taking his online classes using my mobile phone and he constantly complained about the strain on his eyes. I cannot afford a Tablet and I cannot explain how grateful I am to IDAK for this thoughtful gift.”

As COVID-19 spreads within the country, thousands of Indian families are deprived of their livelihood. IDAK is committed to its social cause and continues to undertake voluntary activities to reach out to the affected communities.
