The Indian Business and Professional Council (IBPC), under the patronage of the Embassy of India in Kuwait, successfully hosted the India-Kuwait Buyer Seller Meet in the Food & Agro Sectors in collaboration with the Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO). Held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, the event saw an impressive turnout of importers and F&B professionals from across Kuwait.
Mr. Kaizar T Shakir, Hon. Vice Chairman of IBPC Kuwait, warmly welcomed the attendees, highlighting the Council’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the Indo-Kuwaiti trade relationship. Emphasizing the significance of imports from India, according to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, India’s exports to Kuwait reached USD 2.1 billion during FY 2023-24, a notable increase from USD 1.6 billion in FY 2022-23. This nearly 30% growth demonstrates the immense potential for further economic synergy, and we are confident that future interactions will continue to foster greater cross-sector collaboration."
The event was graced by His Excellency Dr. Adarsh Swaika, Indian Ambassador to Kuwait, who commended IBPC’s efforts in bridging the two business communities. He encouraged the Indian delegates to pursue business opportunities diligently, promoting deeper ties with Kuwaiti counterparts.
Also in attendance were Mr. Israr Ahmed, Vice President of FIEO, Mr. Prashant Seth, Joint Deputy Director General of FIEO, Mr. Suresh K P, Hon. Joint Secretary, and Mr. Sunit Arora, Hon. Treasurer. The Vote of thanks was delivered by Mr. Soly Mathew, Hon. Secretary of IBPC.
A key moment of the event was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between FIEO and IBPC Kuwait, marking the beginning of an exciting new phase of cooperation. Founded in 1965 by India’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry, FIEO serves as an apex body promoting Indian exports worldwide.
The event showcased a delegation of 31 Indian Food & Agro companies, offering a wide array of products including fruits, vegetables, rice, millets, meat, spices, tea, coffee, eco-friendly packaging solutions, and more. These companies presented innovative products and advancements in food processing, packaging, and sustainable agricultural practices, sparking significant interest from Kuwaiti buyers.
Kuwaiti importers were able to engage directly with the Indian businesses, exploring new trends such as alternative proteins, fortified foods, and cutting-edge preservation technologies, which are poised to unlock new market opportunities in Kuwait.
