History made as first NEET exam outside India held at Kuwait

For the first time in the history, Government of India conducted NEET (UG) examination for Indian students outside India at Kuwait. More than 300 Indian students attended the exam at the Indian Embassy, Kuwait on Sunday, 12th September.

“It’s a historical day as we successfully conducted the NEET examination without any failure,” Ambassador Shri Sibi George said in the afternoon after successful completion of the NEET exam. First time Kuwait was selected as the center for conducting NEET examination. This definitely helped a lot of families as they are facing very difficult time for the past one year due to pandemic, Ambassador said.

"I thank everyone including the community members, Kuwaiti Authorities, school management, teachers, parents and the students for the successful conduct of the examination. My special gratitude to Indian Community members who have helped in organizing the examination," Ambassador Sibi George said.

Embassy has made special arrangements following all the exam guidelines prescribed by the National Testing Agency (NTA) and adhering to all the precautionary measures related to Covid-19 for the successful conduct of NEET exam.

Students started coming in batches as per the admit card from 8:30 am. Embassy had arranged special transportation for students from the entrance of diplomatic gate. Embassy even provided umbrella to the students who were dropped by their parents near the diplomatic area entrance. An air conditioned tent was made outside the Embassy premise for registration and necessary instructions. Examination hall was setup inside the Embassy. Strict checking and invigilation were conducted during the exam hours. Indian school authorities also helped for the smooth conduct of the examination.

Speaking on the arrangements, students and parents shared their happiness on the setup made by the Embassy. “Embassy has made excellent arrangements for the smooth conduct of the examination. There was no confusion and everything went well. We are thankful to Ambassador Shri Sibi George for arranging all the facility for the smooth conduct of the examination,” one of the students who attended the exam commented. All the facilities were taken care by the Embassy. We were provided with breakfast and lunch during the exam. Even special make shift toilets were arranged by the Embassy at the tents for the comfort of 300+ students, one of the parents commented.

Ambassador, during a press briefing after the examination, conveyed his sincere gratitude to Honourable Prime Minister and Minister of Education for the historic decision of allotting NEET(UG)-2021 center in Kuwait for the first-time outside India. "I also express our sincere gratitude to NTA and other concerned authorities in India and Kuwait for all the assistance extended in organizing the examination in Kuwait," Ambassador said. It is a collective effort; I thank the Indian community and Indian schools in Kuwait for their support. We made all efforts for their support for the safe, secure and fair conduct of the examination, he said.

The Embassy had conducted JEE and NATA examination also for the first time in Kuwait this year after Shri Sibi George took charge as the Ambassador of India to Kuwait. "We are doing everything possible for our children," Ambassador Sibi George said.

This is the first time, a NEET (UG) exam is conducting outside India and Kuwait was selected as the first center by the government of India. Current Indian Ambassador to Kuwait Shri Sibi George had put tremendous efforts to get the exam center in Kuwait as the parents were uncertain about sending the students to various examination centers in India during the pandemic. Setting up the center in Kuwait was a great relief for their worries.
