The Ministry of Health has confirmed that human metapneumovirus (HMPV) infection rates in the country remain stable and within the expected seasonal norms. The Assistant Undersecretary for Public Health Affairs, Dr. Munther Al-Hassawi noted that no noticeable increase in the number of infections has been recorded in the country and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is currently the primary cause of respiratory infections this season, while influenza cases, particularly among children under five, are also on the rise.
The Ministry continues to monitor respiratory infections, including HMPV and influenza, and emphasizes the importance of preventive measures such as vaccination, maintaining hygiene, and avoiding crowded areas during the respiratory illness season to protect public health. Citizens and residents are urged to follow these guidelines to safeguard themselves and their families.
He added that the Ministry of Health is closely monitoring the global situation and communicating with relevant medical bodies and organizations.
