In a unique attempt, the Guyana Embassy in Kuwait created a Guinness world record for the highest number of stickers on a car.
In an event held at Kuwait Motor town, near Wafra, the Ambassador of Guyana Prof. Dr. Shamir Ally and his wife Dr. Maryann Beebe-Ally created a new world record certified by the Guinness Book of World Record officials. The embassy on Saturday, Jan 25th, received a certificate from the Guinness World Records adjudicator, witnessed by several dignitaries from various embassies.
The celebration coincided with Guyana’s 50th anniversary since becoming a republic, 25 years of diplomatic ties with Kuwait and Guyana’s 9th anniversary of opening its embassy in Kuwait.
The record breaking event was also attended by the BSS students of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan.
According to the Guinness book officials, the Guyana Embassy in Kuwait put 41,543 stickers on its embassy car with diplomatic plate number 3 at the Kuwait Motor Town.
“The vehicle is a sedan with plate number 3. The car can be driven even after the stickers were pasted, as no stickers cover the operational aspects of the car such as the mirrors, windows and lights. Visitors to the embassy (in Mubarak Abdullah Jaber in west Mishref) can see the car as part of the ‘Show, Tell and Know’ tour, and later it will be turned over to the Kuwait museum as Guyana’s gift to Kuwait,” Ambassador Dr. Shamir Ally said.
According to Guinness record officials who came all the way to Kuwait to monitor the record breaking attempt, the attempt by Guyana Ambassador breaks the existing records of 14,637 stickers. Ambassador Prof. Dr. Shamir Ally and Dr. Maryam Beebe-Ally thanked all the well-wishers and the state of Kuwait for this unique and wonderful opportunities, which helped him to achieve the world record for the Guyana Embassy in Kuwait.
