The Readers' Club Kuwait was officially launched by a group of Indian school children from Kuwait with a goal to make reading fun and develop an interest in science among children. This club will help kids enjoy books, learn new skills, and explore exciting science activities. Speaking at the event, Founder-President Reema Jafar said, “Reading is the key to learning and growing. If we can inspire kids to enjoy reading early, we can help them think creatively and explore new ideas.”
In the inaugural event, the Readers Club organized a space observation workshop led by Eisa Al-Nasarallah, a researcher from University College London (UCL), UK. At the workshop, the children had the opportunity to look at the moon, Jupiter, Mars, and other celestial bodies using a powerful telescope. All children said they all are observing moon and planets through a telescope for the first time. One-o-one interaction from a theoretical physicist, UCL, was a great opportunity for the children. Eissa Al-Nasarallah said that “By connecting reading with science, we can open up a world of opportunities for kids.”
The Readers' Club Kuwait aims to:
• Help kids develop a love for reading at an early age, especially in 1st or 2nd grade, when they are most curious.
• Organize fun science-related activities and skill-building workshops.
• Share tips and ideas to help parents and teachers encourage children to read more.
The club plans to host many activities, such as:
• Reading sessions to make books fun and exciting.
• Creative writing workshops to help kids tell their own stories.
• Science experiments to make learning hands-on and fun.
Reema and Reeya are both hosting a TV program “Kids Reading Club” at the Kuwait National TV. The program has already completed more than 150 episodes. This club was inspired by their TV program. "The inaugural workshop is just a beginning. More activities will follow. Youth can make positive changes in society in many ways", Reeya, the Vice President of the club, said.
