FAIPS (DPS) Organises The First Ever GCC Online French Quiz-2020

To make a nation globally competitive the study and knowledge of foreign languages are very important. Due to its vividness in traditions and rich heritage, learning French opens up an avenue for a cultural journey into the worlds of fashion, gastronomy, arts, architecture and science. To make an attempt to promote the learning of French language among school students, during pandemic days, FAIPS (DPS) organized a GCC wide online French quiz in association with the Gulf French Teachers Forum (GFTF) for students of class X in Gulf region. This venture, first of its kind in this region, was held on Friday, 26th June, 2020. Having more than 900 students registered, the quiz also provided good opportunity to the students to test their knowledge in the subject and to prepare them for the CBSE Board examination.

In a formal inauguration ceremony organized prior to the quiz, Mr. Ravi Ayanoli, Principal, FAIPS (DPS), Kuwait welcomed the Zoom gathering and emphasized that learning a foreign language enriches the mind and opens up new horizons, both personally and professionally. The Chief Guest, Mrs. Preeti Bhutani, a renowned author and French language expert, described the beauty of the French language, highlighting its unique features and its wonderful literature. Appreciating the entire team for making this great event possible, the guest of honor Mr. Arogya Reddy, Principal, Ambassador School Sharjah, stated that French language is used in all the 5 continents like English and is easy to learn. Special invitee, Mr. Jeyraj, French HOD, Ebenezer School Bangalore, encouraged and motivated the participating students.

The efforts put in by Mr. Shafi Shariff and Mr. Keba Joseph of GFTF to organize such an event at the middle east level were duly acknowledged by the FAIPS(DPS) Principal. He also appreciated Mr. Jeyakar Sahayaraj, HOD of French, FAIPS (DPS) Kuwait for his commendable organizing skills which made the event successful. After the inauguration, the students joined the respective Google classroom to take the online quiz. More than 700 students appeared for the online quiz with great enthusiasm and excitement. The results are as follows: 15 students scored 100 % marks, 180 students scored 90% marks and 201 students scored 80% marks which is an amazing achievement in itself.
