Traffic Sector will deploy 150 traffic patrols, 100 rescue patrols, and 26 motorcycles to monitor traffic movement during the beginning of the school year, with the support of helicopters to monitor and resolve traffic congestion.
Director of the Traffic Awareness Department, Colonel Fahd Al-Essa said that coordination has been made to distribute patrols to several locations, including highways and major intersections. The traffic depart is also coordinating with some schools that witness a high density of students and traffic congestion to control the smooth traffic flow during school hours.
He urged the parents and drivers to leave early to avoid congestion and avoid reckless driving and speeding. The Ministry of Education has provided 1,500 buses to transport students, and this will directly contribute to reducing vehicle congestion in some schools, he said.
