The Meteorology Department of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, on Friday evening, said that the dust-raising winds are expected to blow at speeds exceeding 60 kilometers per hour during the early hours of Saturday morning, reducing horizontal visibility in some areas, especially in open areas.
Director of the Meteorology Department, Dharar Al-Ali, told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that weather maps and numerical models indicate that the country will be affected by a surface low-pressure system that will gradually recede, allowing a high-pressure system to advance from the northwest of the Arabian Peninsula, accompanied by a hot and dry air mass with moderate to active northwesterly winds, which will sometimes be strong and reach speeds of more than 60 kilometers per hour, on Saturday morning.
Al-Ali added that the winds will stir up sand and dust, reducing horizontal visibility to less than 1,000 meters in some areas, especially open areas, and sea waves may reach more than six feet in height.
He explained that northwesterly winds will continue for most of the day, with dust expected to gradually settle during the night, with moderate northwesterly winds, which will sometimes be active in coastal areas.
