The Meteorological Department reported that Jahra recorded the highest temperature in the country yesterday, reaching a scorching 52°C, followed by 51°C in Rabiya, Abdali, and Kuwait Airport, and 50°C in Nuwaiseeb.
According to Dharar Al-Ali, Acting Director of the Meteorological Department, the extreme heat is due to the influence of the Indian seasonal low, accompanied by an intense hot air mass. As a result, Kuwait is currently experiencing very hot daytime weather and hot to warm nights.
Al-Ali noted that northwesterly winds—light to moderate in speed—are currently affecting the country. These winds are expected to strengthen, leading to dusty conditions which began yesterday and are likely to persist until Saturday, with peak intensity on Thursday.
He explained that the wind activity will cause dust storms, especially in open areas. On Wednesday and Thursday, the winds are expected to become moderate to strong, reaching speeds of 22 to 65 km/h, leading to widespread dusty weather. Sea waves during this period may exceed seven feet in height.
Al-Ali added that despite the intense conditions, maximum temperatures will see a slight drop by 3 to 4 degrees Celsius starting today, due to the active winds and dust. The expected maximum temperature over the coming days will range between 46°C and 48°C.
