Diwali Celebrations By NRI’s

Diwali also known as the festival of lights is celebrated every year during November. The story behind Diwali are many, In North India it is believed to be celebrated because of King Rama’s return to ayodhya after he defeated Ravana by lighting rows of clay lamp. In South India, it is celebrated as the day when Lord Krishna defeated the demon Narakasura. Thought it has many stories and believes behind it, people celebrate it together wholeheartedly.

In countries like America, The Gulf, France, etc., people celebrate this special occasion differently. Since people live in flats and small rooms people can decorate their houses according to their liking and invite a small number of people. In foreign countries, lot of noise and bursting loud crackers and spreading pollution is strictly prohibited as it may disturb the neighbor’s and also cause poisonous gases in the environment . In foreign countries, rules of the societies should be strictly maintained, otherwise, neighbors can call the police and they can charge heavy fine on the people.

So, people follow these rules and celebrate Diwali in the simplest ways like,

1.Calling and inviting relatives and special friends only.

2.Creating very less noise by not playing loud music or shouting loudly.

3.By decorating only the interiors of the house with diya’s and other decorative items.

4.By bursting very less crackers in the house or balcony or even in the corridors of the building.

Though NRI’s celebrate this festival, they will always miss celebrating Diwali with their parents, relatives and friends and with more loud noises and crackers. NRI’s do a lot of hard work to feed their families in India, but still, they live happily in foreign countries, celebrating every Indian festival in the best way possible .
