The Demographics Amendment Committee, during a meeting led by the committee head Sheikh Talal Al-Khaled, the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, approved a draft regulation focused on Kuwaitizing government contracts.
This initiative is designed to incentivize young people to seek employment in the private sector and enhance job security for workers engaged in government contracts. Furthermore, it is expected to boost the proportion of national employment and generate new job prospects within government contracts.
The committee has entrusted the “Workforce” to undertake the necessary procedures to present this draft regulation to the Council of Ministers, with the aim of swiftly implementing it.
The primary objective of this regulation is to create employment opportunities for Kuwaiti citizens within government contracts, all while ensuring job security. It also places an obligation on contractors to offer national workers enticing employment benefits, which may include health insurance, annual travel allowances, and a structured salary scale.
During the meeting, the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior reaffirmed the government’s unwavering commitment to executing the plans and procedures essential for realizing the objectives of modifying the demographic composition and fostering labor market growth.
