They all came with a handful of dreams, hopes for a brighter tomorrow. Yet, all perished in seconds though no fault of their own. Forty-nine dreams extinguished by a single mistake - 46 Indians and 3 Filipino nationals. This catastrophe has been echoing in our minds here in Kuwait for the past two days, reminding us of how fragile life truly is.
The scene is heart-wrenching. A father who bought his son to work with him in the same company. Son came to Kuwait just few weeks before. Father was living in another camp where as the newly arrived son was put up in this ill-fated camp. Today, the heartbroken father performs the last rites for his son. What a cruel twist of fate! Some of them who lost their life was planning to go for vacation next month to celebrate the housewarming of their newly built homes in India. But today, those houses receive their lifeless bodies. A home of their own, better education for the kids, child's marriage - the dreams were many, but fate had different plans. With their dreams, the dreams of many family also got shattered.
This makes us to think about ourself. In one moment we are planning for tomorrow unaware of the unexpected dangers; but in the very next moment we are fighting for our lives! The man who jumped from the third floor of the building, clutching a cable TV wire, would have never imagined such a fate when he went to sleep after completing his night shift.
Yes, life is unpredictable. We pray for the souls of the deceased. Pray for the speedy recovery of the injured. May god grant strength to their grieving families.
