CBSE postponed all board exams in India and abroad; JEE entrance test also postponed

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) today, Wednesday, March 18, late evening announced that as a precautionary measure and in compliance of the instructions received from Secretary, Department of Higher Education/School Education and Literacy, Government of India, it has been decided to reschedule the ongoing board examinations for class 10 and class 12 students all across the country and abroad.

Earlier CBSE had cancelled all board exams in Kuwait after Kuwait ministry had given strict instruction to close all functions at Educational institutions in Kuwait.

In today's notification, the CBSE has instructed that, "All ongoing examinations of the board of classes 10 and 12, being held in examination centres in India and abroad, and scheduled between March 19, 2020 to March 31, 2020 (both dates inclusive), shall be rescheduled after March 31, 2020."

Rescheduled dates will be communicated by the board by March 31, 2020, after re-assessment of the situation.

All the ongoing board exams related evaluation work in various evaluation centres in the country is also suspended upto March 31, 2020.

Meanwhile, the National Testing Agency also postponed the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE-Main) held for admission to IITs and engineering colleges in view of coronavirus. The exam was earlier scheduled from 5-11 April.

"The JEE-Main exam has been postponed. The new date will be decided in accordance with the board exams schedule and other competitive exams to ensure there is no clash," Indian media reported quoting senior NTA official.

The CBSE announcement came following a directive from the HRD ministry saying exams are important but safety and security of students and teachers is equally important.

Earlier, IIK had reported about the state of uncertainty for Indian students in Kuwait after the CBSE board exams were cancelled only in Kuwait.

EXCELLENT initiative from Indian board of education - keeping health and safety FIRST rather than ''future employment opportunities''.
After all there is no future if the candidate is dead by virus infection !!

Remember future is not made by attending college on time but by living !! JAI HIND !!
