Central Bank of Kuwait has directed banks to stop deducting the two-dinar fee for failing to keep a minimum balance in their accounts other than the salary account.
Reports indicate that some banks deduct two dinars per month from dormant accounts, if the account balance is less than 100 dinar. Some banks also deduct two dinars as a fee from other accounts, other than the salary, such as various prize money account, minor account etc, if their balance fell below a specific value. The Central Bank directed all the banks to stop collecting this fee.
The Central Bank also instructed banks to cancel the 5 dinars fee that some banks used to collect for updating customer data in their branches.
