Ban on 34 countries to continue; More measures are expected as the number of ICU cases are on the rise

In its weekly meeting held on Monday, Kuwait cabinet renewed its call to take appropriate legal measures against anyone who violated the health requirements to limit the spread of the Corona epidemic.

After being briefed on the coronavirus situation in the country by the Health Minister Sheikh Basel Humoud Al-Sabah, ministers decided to retain the need for passengers flying into Kuwait to obtain a PCR examination certificate from a laboratory approved by the Kuwaiti Ministry of Health.

As the number of infected cases is increasing and Kuwait recorded eight deaths within two days, sources said that the lifting of the ban on direct entry from 34 countries would not take place soon. According to sources, the number of infected people in intensive care rose to 125. The increasing cases also reduce the chances of lowering the quarantine period to 7 days as requested by some quarters. The country is still in the fourth phase of return to normal life and moving to fifth phases has been postponed indefinitely.

As people failed to adhere to the health requirement, the chances of the return of the partial ban according to the degree of severity of the epidemiological situation in the country, is not ruled out, reports Al Qabas Arabic newspaper.

The sources warned that the gatherings are a primary source of transmission of the virus from the infected to the healthy, stressing the need for citizens and residents to cooperate during this period, in particular, to relieve pressure on health system workers, and not to overburden medical staff.
