In the wake of the Mangaf fire tragedy, which has heightened awareness of apartment safety regulations in Kuwait, the Kuwait Municipality has reported a 400% increase in waste over the past two days. Most of this waste consists of unwanted items stockpiled in various apartment buildings.
Muhammad Sandan, the Director of the Public Relations Department and official spokesman for Kuwait Municipality, announced that an estimated 568 tons of waste were collected from in front of investment and commercial residential properties across all six governorates on Thursday and Friday.
This amount is four times the normal rate, which typically ranges between 100 and 150 tons in these areas on a regular day.
The spokesman also warned building owners that hygiene departments in all governorates will issue penalties against those who dispose of rubble and waste in front of their properties. He urged property owners to voluntarily remove their violations, as regulations stipulate that rubble and waste should be cleared by property owners rather than being piled up in front of their properties, to avoid penalties.
Sandan emphasized that municipal teams are fully committed to enforcing municipal rules and regulations, ensuring the removal of waste, and filing reports and violations against offenders.
