Angel Gabriella D

Angel Gabriella D’Costa has etched her name as the first junior 16-year-old from Kuwait to represent Goa State in cricket. Her remarkable journey has been marked by relentless dedication, immense talent, and a deep passion for sports. She also made her debut in the ICC World Cup Asia Qualifiers with the Kuwait Senior National Women's Cricket Team held in Malaysia, further solidifying her position as a rising star in the cricketing world.

Born on December 4, 2007, in Kuwait, Angel’s tryst with sports began at an incredibly young age. Her journey into the world of athletics started at just five years old when she won a bronze medal in the Sub-Junior Girls 18-20Kg weight category at the 22nd Goa State Taekwondo Championship in 2013. By the age of eight, she had ventured into basketball, playing as a forward in interschool competitions. Her prowess was not limited to these sports, as she also excelled in throwball, earning the Player of the Team award in a tournament.

Angel's passion for cricket took center stage in her life when she decided to move to India in 2022 at the age of 14 to receive professional training. She dedicated herself to a rigorous regimen, training for 4-5 hours daily under expert coaches to hone her skills as an all-rounder and right-arm pace bowler. Her commitment to fitness, strength, and technical improvement played a pivotal role in her rapid ascent in the sport.

At just 16, Angel achieved a historic feat by becoming the first Indian junior player from Kuwait to represent Goa State at the national level. She was selected as an opening bowler for the Goa State Cricket Team, showcasing her exceptional abilities and determination. Her skills were further recognized when she earned a place in the Kuwait Senior Women's Cricket Team for the ICC World Cup Asia Qualifiers in Malaysia at the age of 15. Competing at the international level was a significant milestone that highlighted her potential and solidified her status as a cricketing prodigy.

While cricket remains her primary focus, Angel’s versatility in sports is evident in her accomplishments across multiple disciplines. From Taekwondo and basketball to throwball, she has consistently demonstrated her athleticism and adaptability. In addition to sports, Angel is also passionate about western dance and painting, showcasing her artistic side beyond the sporting arena.

Angel’s journey has been one of perseverance and determination. She is the youngest of three siblings and was raised solely by her mother, who has been her pillar of support throughout her sporting career. Angel completed her early education in Goa, attended IEAS School in Salmiya, Kuwait, and later moved to India to pursue her 9th and 10th grades. She is currently pursuing Science, balancing academics alongside her rigorous training schedule.

Angel Gabriella D’Costa’s journey is an inspiration to aspiring young athletes, proving that dedication, hard work, and a passion for sports can lead to remarkable achievements. As she continues to rise through the ranks in cricket and other sports, she remains a role model for the next generation of athletes. With her talent and determination, the future looks incredibly promising for this young sporting sensation.
