Wait few more days to get clarity on travel procedure; Ambassador addresses Indian community

Ambassador Shri Sibi George interacted with the Indian community in a virtual Open house hosted by the Indian Embassy in Kuwait. As per the latest circular issued by Kuwaiti Authorities, fully vaccinated expatriates are allowed to enter Kuwait, However we need to wait till further clarity on this issue such as whether Indians can directly enter Kuwait or any third country stay is required etc. It is better to wait for few more days to get a clarity on many of these factors before buying your air ticket, Ambassador told in his open house.

The Covishield vaccine is approved by the State of Kuwait. there are quite a number of Indian who got approval after submitting their vaccine certificate on MoH portal. However the large volume of certificates submitted by expatriates cause some delay on the approval process. As long as you did not receive any rejection message, no need to panic and wait until you get further messages, Ambassador said.

Indian Embassy first secretary Shri Fahad Suri gave a presentation on how to submit your vaccine certificate issued by India government on the MoH portal during the open house.

We came across some people who are facing issues with the QR Code on the certificate issued by government of India. Embassy is in constant touch with the India government to address this issue and it will be solved shortly, Ambassador said. We are also in constant touch with Kuwaiti authorities and DGCA for air travel issues related to Indian expats, Ambassador said.

Compensation to low salaried Indians died of Covid

Indian Community Support Group ICSG, sett up by the Indian Embassy for the relief of community members during the Covid crisis, will give 1 lakh rupee to all Indians workers who earn a salary less than 120 KD and who died in Kuwait due to Covid. "We know it s a small amount, but this will be a good initiative," Ambassador said. Embassy will coordinate with ICSG and send the amount to their legal heir.

Death Registration

During the open house, Indian Embassy first secretary Shri Kamal Singh Rathore made a detailed presentation on the steps for registering the death of Indian nationals in Kuwait. The detailed steps and documents required for getting official death certificate and transportation of mortal remains were explained by Mr Rathore. Indian Embassy have a fast track system to process the death cases. An Official WhatsApp number working 24 hours is available exclusively for handling the death cases.

Embassy updates

Embassy First Secretary Mr Fahad Suri also updated various activities of Indian Embassy during the Open house. Embassy conducted a number of events to interact with various segments of the Indian community. Embassy continues to provide lunch packets for the needy community members who are coming to embassy for various services during lunch time.
