The Ministry of Interior issued a new resolution, which requires all marine vessels, regardless of their shape or form, whether stationary or moving, to install the self-identification device (AIS).
The self-identification device is a small device to identify ships when sailing by their call, location and speed for easy and safe sailing. The device can be purchased through any entities approved by the General Authority for Communications.
The administration called on seagoers to install the self-identification device by registering and obtaining a permit from the General Authority for Communications through their website.
The users must turn on the self-identification device “AIS” when sailing, and in the event that the device is turned off for any purpose, the user will be subject to a violation and a fine equivalent to “500” Kuwaiti dinars.
