A Musical concert at Patteshwaram

Aadhi month [ July-August ] is full of festivals for Goddess Parvathi . Especially every Friday !!!!!!!!!!!

All the temples would be decorated , there will be an on-going rush to see the pretty . magnificent Goddess .[ Devi Parvathi or Amman ] During the 4th Friday which is called Adhi Perukal many devotees buy a lot of colorful glass bangles for the goddess [ Parvathi ] . The priests decorate the goddess with the bangles given to them by the devotees . When you look at the goddess during the 4h Friday of the Aadhi month, she looks so real . Beautiful !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

During this auspicious month My Music Teacher decided to conduct a classical music concert at Patteshwaram [ Tamil Nadu ] where the Sri Vana Patteshwaram Durgai and Thenupureshwar temple is located .

Our Teacher started to teach a lot of Tamil classical songs on Goddess Parvati , Lord Ganesh , Lord Subramanium and Lord Shiva .

Our mam also told us that the program would be conducted at the Sri Vana Durgai Thennupulishwar temple at 4:30 Pm and would end at 6 Pm and on 5th August . She also formed groups .

I along with my friends were immensely happy . When we told our parents they were quite pleased .

When the day arrived I was upside-down . I along with my parents and friends had to get ready at 3 PM sharp . All of us had to come on our own . I went with my friend Adhithi in her car .First from Kumbakonam we went towards Darasuram and then we reached Patteshwaram . Oh!!!!!!!!!!!

We truly got excited !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My aunt brought a garland of roses for the Vana –Patteshwaram Durgai Amman . We removed our slippers and ran towards the temple . the temple was huge . My grandma told us that there are three Vana Durgas around Kumbakonam [ Tamil Nadu ] . The first Van Durga lies in Patteshwaram called Sri Patteshwaram Durgai Amman and the second lies in Kadhiramangalam named Sri Kadhiramangalam Vana Durgai Amman and the third lies in Ammamgudi where the goddess is called Sri Ammangudi Vana Durgai Amman . These three Durgai Amman’s are very famous.

We went around the temple and found ourselves to be the first over there .There was still a lot more time for our friends to arrive .we wandered over here and there . While I wandered I noticed that ALL THE THREE Nandis in the Shiva temple were moved . As you see in every Shiva temple Nandi would be located in front of the Shiva idol but why only in this temple the Nandis should be moved . I wanted to find the reason . I got my answer as soon as I came out of the Shiva sannadi . There were paintings on the walls and the painting described the story , [Why Nandi was slightly moved from Lord Shiva ? ] . Eager to hear the story , Enthusiastic Readers !!

Thirunyanasamandar a beloved devotee of Lord Shiva , Was once on his way towards Thenupureshwar temple .It was a hot sunny day . He was unable to control the heat which was poking his feet . The path was full of sand and small –small stones . He started singing songs on Lord Shiva on his way . The Lord felt quite happy with his devotion and he himself came down to the earth holding an umbrella for Thirunyanasamandar . As soon as he reached the temple the Lord asked Nandi to move a bit right to give way for the great poet . Listening to the orders of his master He moved .

That’s were the story ends .

When I went around the temple I heard some of my friends calling out my name . I took a quick glance And rushed outside With my relatives .At First our mam took photos Of all of us . It was 4:30 PM , time to start . All Of us were bit nervous . Tabala , Mridangam and the violin masters got ready . The speakers were all set . I along with two of my friends were first to go onto the stage . Three , two ,one , ready to go . We sang Ganapathiye undan Kazhal Panindhen . The song took about three minutes . There were a lot of people . There was a loud round of applause . !!!! And then Our mam called group by group to sing the respective songs . Everything was going fine . Everyone took a lot of videos and photos . All of us were pleased . And when it 6 PM the concert came to an end . Once again all of us assembled together .A lot of parents took photos . Coming to an end , All of us enjoyed a lot.
