Syro Malabar Cultural Association Abbasiya Area took the charge as the 30th Governing Council.

In the year 2025-26, Syro Malabar Cultural Association (SMCA)’s Abbasiya area demonstrated their operational excellence and leadership though their efficient management and increased memberships. The Area meeting was held on Monday, 5th May 20205 at SMCA Hall, Abbasiya. The event took place under the leadership of the administrative committee headed by Baiju Joseph Puthenchira (General Convener), Santosh Chacko Odatel (Secretary), and Aneesh Philip Pulikkal (Treasurer) took over the responsibility.

At the annual general meeting chaired by outgoing area convener Sijo Mathew, the report was presented by Secretary Jins Joy and the financial report was presented by Treasurer Lijo Arakkal were approved.

New Appointments include Binu Gregory as the Area Election Commissioner and Thomas Varghese as the Auditor for the next working year, Joji Joseph as the Joint Convener, Sajan Thomas as the Joint Secretary, The general meeting elected Santosh Sebastian (Baladeepti Coordinator), Sunil Rappuzha (Cultural Coordinator), Sabu Thomas (Social Convener), Biju P. Anto (Media Coordinator), and Vijayan Sebastian (Arts & Sports Coordinator) as subcommittee coordinators.

The services provided by SMCA for the empowerment and well-being of the Syro-Malabar Church members in Kuwait for the past 29 years have been invaluable. Therefore, the members are looking forward to the newly appointed Governing Body with great anticipation.
