
IEI–Kuwait Chapter Hosts Technical Seminar and 27th Annual General Body Meeting at Millennium Hotel, Salmiya
The Institution of Engineers (India), Kuwait Chapter, successfully conducted its Technical Seminar and 27th Annual General Body Meeting (AGM) at the Millennium Hotel, Salmiya, on Wednesday, May 1, 2025. The prestigious event was attended by a large gathering of engineers, dignitaries, and guests, showcasing the chapter’s continued commitment to professional excellence and community engagement.
The evening commenced at 7:30 PM with a warm welcome by Engr. Nalin Vasanth Sethunath, who served as the Master of Ceremonies. The event began with the playing of the National Anthems of Kuwait and India, followed by a solemn one-minute silence to pay homage to the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack.
Chairman Engr. Sam Ananth ceremoniously escorted the seminar speaker, Dr. Ali Alfayly, to the stage. Mr. Venkateshintroduced Dr. Alfayly, an Assistant Professor at the College of Basic Education, Kuwait, and a board member of the Association of Artificial Intelligence of Things (AAIaT). Dr. Alfayly delivered a compelling presentation on “AI for Life: Engineering the Future of Healthcare”. His talk highlighted transformative applications of Artificial Intelligence in healthcare, including improved diagnostics, cost reduction, and minimized errors — earning high appreciation from the attendees.
A moment of silence was also observed in memory of Dr. Neelamani, a former IEI member and renowned scientist from KISR, as remembered by Dr. Mahendran, past chairman of the IEI Kuwait Chapter.
During the AGM proceedings, Chairman Engr. Sam Ananthextended his gratitude to the outgoing Executive Committee for their dedicated service during the 2024–2025 term. Treasurer Engr. Karthikeyan presented the annual financial report, which was audited and approved by the general body. General Secretary Engr. Sudhir Menghani presented a detailed overview of the chapter’s activities during the year, emphasizing the success of numerous technical events.
Following the dissolution of the existing committee, an election commission comprising Dr. Rumane, Dr. Mahendran, and Engr. Rishabnath Zain conducted the election for the new Executive Committee for 2025–2026. The nomination process had already been carried out in advance, and the following were elected:

Three members—Engr. Agnel Stanley Charles, Engr. Subalakshmi Varadarajan, and Engr. Rajalakshmi—were absent during the election and will be co-opted into the committee by the newly elected team.
In his acceptance speech, Chairman Engr. Sam Ananththanked members for their continued trust and vowed to elevate the chapter’s stature with a dynamic year ahead. He acknowledged the high standards set by the previous committee and assured the gathering of continued excellence in programs and services.
As part of the chapter’s strategic initiatives, the following were announced:
1. A Free Online Course on Rocket Science by Dr. Sivathanu Pillai (Founder, BrahMos Aerospace & former DRDO/ISRO scientist) for students (Grades 8–12) from May–June 2025, with a chance for outstanding participants to visit ISRO in July 2025 (MOU #1).
2. A Certified Online Program on Project Management (Levels I–IV), with further details to be announced soon (MOU #2).
Both MOUs were signed by the IEI Kuwait Chapter and the Kuwait Society of Engineers (KSE)
The event concluded on a delightful note with a grand dinner served to all attendees, leaving behind a sense of inspiration, unity, and purpose within Kuwait’s engineering community.
